Thank you for being supportive of our schools when we changed the school schedule on August 27 due to our first cases of coronavirus. We have seen some benefits of that schedule by providing more space for students and reducing the number of students contact traced/quarantined by the Health Department. However, we also have recognized the need for many students to have better daily access to face-to-face teaching.
So, beginning Monday, October 19, all students will return to campus daily on a regular schedules.
In Lenoir City Schools we are doing everything in our power to ensure the safest environment possible while providing quality education for our students. We want our students to be in classes daily. The healthy habits that our students, teachers, staff, custodians, bus drivers and maintenance teams have implemented is commendable.
We will continue to follow the Tennessee Department of Health guidelines which require notification of anyone who has been in contact with a person testing positive. A person is considered in contact when the person is within 6ft. of another person for more than 15 minutes. As we bring everyone back, we expect students to wear face coverings, wash hands frquently or use hand sanitizer, and stay home if sick and let the school nurse know of any symptoms of illness. Social distancing of 6ft. at all times is not possible in our schools.
Our teachers wil continue to provide instruction for any student(s) who are required by TN Health Department to quarantine for an extended period of time.
