TELEMEDICINE
Lenoir City Schools is very excited to announce a partnership with Pediatric Choice to offer remote physician appointments, also known as Telemedicine! What does this mean? Telemedicine uses high-definition equipment at our school clinic to help physicians or nurse practitioners diagnose common medical conditions. How does this work? If a student comes to the school clinic complaining of a throbbing ear, the school nurse will contact the parent to arrange a telemedicine appointment. At a scheduled time during the day, the student will be screened with high-definition equipment to transmit the image to Pediatric Choice. The provider can diagnose the condition and prescribe if needed. The student never needs to leave school, and you don’t have to go to work or worry about transportation.
Most insurance companies cover the visit as a regular office visit. All students are eligible for this program, and you do not need to be a patient of Pediatric Choice to participate. Please check with your health insurance company to see if they cover telemedicine visits.
We are very excited to offer this program to help parents face challenges with transportation and missing work. It also allows our students to stay in school during critical educational times.
We are offering this program to our LCIMS families for the spring semester, starting in January. If the program is successful, we plan to take the program system-wide at the start of the 2021 school year.
We will be posting registration forms, frequently asked questions, and a short video to demonstrate the process and equipment for your convenience.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Coordinated School Health office at (865) 988-7257 or email wbstooksbury@lenoircityschools.net.
