DINZLE ADAMS -1958

Playing football and baseball, Dink earned 8 letters for the Panthers. He played football 4 years, he started 3 years and as a senior, he finished seventh in the state in scoring with 88 points. A shifty runner on offense, he also played defensive back. He started 4 years in baseball, earning All Conference honors his last 3 years. He had a career batting average of .434. He went to Tennessee Tech, lettering 2 years in football before an injury ended his career. He also lettered 3 years in tennis, placing second in Division 3, OVC Tournament. He coached high school football for 16 years and then served 21 years as Assistant Principal, Principal and Athletic Director. In 2008 he was honored with the naming of the Knoxville's Hall High School Football Field in his name, Dinzle "Dink" Adams Field. He was elected to the LCHS Hall of Fame in 2006.

Travis Adams - 1997

Travis wore #5 on the LCHS football field from 1993 - 1996. This jersey was the first to be officially retired at Lenoir City High School. In his four years at LCHS, Travis gained a total of 7,885 yards and scored more than 75 touchdowns. He has been chosen as Best Offensive Back, Most Valuable Player, East Tennessee Offensive Player of the Year, Tennessee Athletic Coaches Association Class AAA Football Regional Player of the Year, Class AAA Mr. Football Finalist Back of the Year, State Leader of Yards Gained, Loudon County Player of the Year, Lenoir City Tellico Rotary Club All State Running Back, TSSAA Mr. Football Runner Up, Class AAA East TN All Region Player of the Year, All State Player of the Year, Participant of the 1st Annual East - West Shrine Football Game, 2nd place in State for Yards Gained, Who's Who in Sports recognized as one of the Nation's Outstanding Athletes in the High School Division, Top 25 College Prospects in Tennessee, and set the State's Single Season Rushing Record. At the time he graduated, Travis was 2nd on the state's all time list for most rushing yards in a four year career. Travis also played baseball for four years as a starter in center field and was a lead off hitter. He was elected and inducted to the Lenoir City High School Sports Hall of Fame in 2013.

BARBARA ALLEN (LUTTRELL)

Barbara played varsity basketball for four years from 1954 until 1958, elected Co-Captain her junior year and Captain as a senior. She was the leading scorer for the Lady Panthers and was known for her outside shooting before the modern-day 3-point rule. We can only imagine what her scoring totals might have been! Playing under the old half court system, she was the designated free throw shooter when the defense drew a foul. Her career high 40 points led her team against a tough Oliver Springs. The ladies of Lenoir City won their first ever District Championship in 1956 when she scored 27 points in the final game against Meigs Co. She joins her brother Preston as a member. She was inducted into the LCHS Sports Hall of Fame in 2011.

PRESTON ALLEN – 1958


As Co-Captain of the 1958 State Championship basketball team, he was team leader in scoring and was selected All Region and All State. Preston was a pure shooter and was known as a top defensive player who was usually assigned to guard the top scorer of the opposing team. The final win in the 1958 Championship game was due largely to his defensive work against the Number One player in the state. He was elected as a charter member to the Hall of Fame in 1970.

WAYNE ANTHONY - 1959

Playing football, basketball and baseball at LCHS, he earned 12 letters. In football he played end, fullback, and quarterback, showing his versatility at each position. He was elected Captain his last year. He was member of the 1958 basketball State Champions and also the 1959 State Tournament team. In baseball, he played the outfield and catcher and was clean-up hitter his last year. On graduation, he received a scholarship to Vanderbilt University, where he lettered 3 years. He began coaching at Greenville High School and became head coach his fourth year. He then went to Jefferson County high, where, as offensive coordinator, they went to the playoffs several years and twice to the State Championship game, winning the State Championship in 1987. He retired from coaching in 1988, but continued to teach until 2001, when he returned to Lenoir City. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2005.

OLLIE ARDEN-1939

He played during the football golden years at Lenoir City. He began with the great undefeated team of 1936 in the backfield and was moved to the line in 1937 on the team that lost only 2 games. His play led the team to an 11 win and 1 loss in 1938. His speed, rugged play and blocking abilities made him a standout. In 1939, he was elected Captain and again the team was one of the best in the area. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1972.

JACK ARMSTRONG-1942

He was selected for his football and basketball abilities, playing from 1939-40-41 and 1942. In basketball he was All Tournament in 1942 when his foul shooting sent the game into overtime when he later won the game for Lenoir city. Following WWII, he quarterbacked The University of Tennessee football team that only lost one game and played in the Orange Bowl. He later coached at Oak Ridge High School, winning a state championship and playing havoc with Lenoir City. He was elected as a charter member to the Hall of Fame in 1970.
