Randy Tatham-- 1972

Randy was a 3 year starter in football, where he played end, quarterback, and cornerback on defense.  Randy led the team in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns all three years.  Randy averaged 42.3 yards per punt as a junior, and 43.7 yards as a senior.  He was voted Most Valuable Player his senior year.  In basketball, Randy was a 3 year starter and led the team in rebounds as a junior and senior.  He also was given an award for Outstanding Field Goal Percentage with a 58.6 average.  He was voted Most Valuable Player and selected All District, All Region, All Tri-State, and listed as a top 25 player in the state.  He received the Cecil Thomas Outstanding Athlete Award and was voted Most Athletic.  Randy lettered 3 years in baseball where he was a pitcher, first baseman, and outfielder.  As a senior he led the team in batting average.  Randy was offered a football scholarship to MTSU, but accepted a basketball scholarship to Roane State where he was a 2 year starter and set a single game rebound record with 21 rebounds.  Following his college days, he signed as punter with the Dallas Cowboys .  From 2008 to 2013, Randy was a non-faculty coach at Lenoir City High School, coaching kickers and tight ends. Randy was inducted in the LCHS Sports Hall of Fame in 2017.

Katrina Thaxton

Katrina Thaxton-- 1998

Katrina was a four year starter on the Lenoir City High School Lady Panthers basketball team.  As a freshman she lead the team in scoring, averaging 19 points per game.  She also lead the team in steals and assists.  She was selected as All-District, All-Regional, and All-East Tennessee.  She was MVP on the All-County team. The Lady Panthers’ record was 24-6.  As a sophomore Katrina was MVP in the District 4-AA, and All Regional. Her team’s record was 25-7, ranked #7 in the state.  They lost in sub-state.  She was again All-County MVP.  Her junior year, Katrina was selected All-District, All-Region and All-County. The Lady Panthers were sub-state champs.  Their record was 29-5.  As a senior, Katrina was captain of the basketball team and named Most Athletic by her peers.  She was selected as All-District, All-Region, and All-County.  Katrina is a member of the LCHS 1,000 points club with 1,200 career points.  She was awarded a scholarship from Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach, Florida, where she played basketball for four years.  Katrina was inducted in the LCHS Sports Hall of Fame in 2017.

CECIL THOMAS-1926

Cecil ThomasThe LEGEND

The number 1 pick of all Lenoir City sports fans and sports historians. Cecil was "just" a great athlete. He excelled in every phase of basketball and football. He was a big man, strong and fast. He played on both sides of the ball in football, (quarterback and linebacker) and played it well. He enters the Hall of Fame for both sports but is mostly known for his basketball play. He was All-East Tennessee in both 1924 and 1925. He was named All State in 1926, becoming the first player from Lenoir City to be selected for this honor. He was later honored with the CECIL THOMAS MEMORIAL TROPHY and had the high school football field named after him (CECIL THOMAS FIELD). He was elected as a charter member to the Hall of Fame in 1970.

Mark Thomas - 1983

Mark played basketball at Lenoir City High School for four years. On the freshman team Mark scored 190 points. He was on the All-District Tournament Team and the teas was District Tournament Champions. He scored around 30 varsity points and 237 JV points his sophomore year. His junior year he scored 316 points and had 123 rebounds and 132 blocked shots. His senior year Mark scored 514 points, with 250 rebounds and 120 blocked shots. He led District 5AA in scoring with 17.1 average. He was chosen for the All-County Team, All-District Team, All-District Tournament Team, All-Region Team, and All-Region Tournament Team. He was voted Most Valuable Player, Best Rebounder, and Most Outstanding Athlete at the Senior Athletic Banquet. Mark received a full basketball scholarship to Lee University, where he continued to excel both on and off the court.   He was inducted into the LCHS Sports Hall of Fame in 2015.

Mitchell Thomas - 2004


Mitchell played varsity soccer for four yeas for the Lenoir City High School Panthers. During his career he is credited with 48 goals soccer and 43 assists. During his freshman year, he was selected as the Gatorade Player of the Year and the Lenoir City High School JV Player of the Year. His sophomore year Mitchell was selected for the TSSAA Tournament Team, TSSAA All District and All Region, TSSAA A/AA State Soccer Semifinals, and he received the Lenoir City High School Most dedicated Award. During his junior year, Mitchell had the honor of being selected as a A-AA Tennessee Player of the Year (Mr. Soccer). He was also chosen as TSSAA District Player of the Year and went to TSSAA A/AA State Soccer Semi-finals. Both his junior and senior years, he was selected as Lenoir City High School MVP, TSSAA All District and All Region TSSAA All State, and he was chosen for the Knoxville News Sentinel Prep Xtra First Team. His senior year he was also in the TSSAA A/AA State Soccer Finals. Mitchell received several scholarship offers. He chose to attend King College in Bristol, Tennessee, where he played soccer and earned his degree in Business Administration.  He was inducted into the LCHS Sports Hall of Fame in 2015.

Ron TilleyRon Tilley 1956

Ron has played an important role in LCHS and its sports programs for many years. He attended LCHS from 1952 - 1956, where he played basketball and baseball. He served as sports writer and editor of the school newspaper, The Panther Press, and the school annual, The L'Cean. 
He was a sports writer, columnist, and editor for Carson Newman's newspaper, The Orange and Blue. He was the assistant Sports Information Director for Carson Newman. In this capacity he initiated and organized "Lenoir City Nite" at the Carson Newman and Chattanooga basketball game, which featured Lenoir City players, Harry Sparks, Gil Luttrell, Howard Luttrell, and Billy Padgett. Ron has served as Vice President of the LCHS Sports Hall ofFame since it was revived. He has been a writer and contributor to the Lenoir City News, Knoxville Journal, and Knoxville News Sentinel Ron sponsored the LCHS cheerleaders from 1994 - 1996. From 1995 - 2000, he funded fence signs for both baseball and football fields. Re sponsored the LCHS Iloliday Invitational Basketball Tournaments in the late 90's. He sponsored the LCHS golf team in the early 2000's. He helped fund the purchase of a piano for the high school chorus in 2002. In 2005, he built the build'ing for the LCHS Football Booster Club where caps, shirts, jackets, etc. are stored and sold. Ron has also played an important role in the community. He was part of a group that reorganized the Loudon County Boys and Girls Club, and served as President of the board for 2 years. He initiated and coordinated the sale and purchase of the current facility of the Boys and Girls Club from the Central Methodist, Church. He is a former president of the Lenoir City Ci vi tan Club and East Tennessee Ci vi tan President of the Y car in 1998. He is the original organizer and committee member of the "50's Reunion". He is also a board member of Committee of I 00 of Loudon County. As a local business person, Ron is a former Chrysler Financial Dealer of the Year; former member of the National Dodge Dealer Council; Loudon County News Herald "Dealer of the Year" nine years in a row; two-time President of the Knoxville Area Car Dealers Association; former President and current board member of the Better Business of East Tennessee; and Lenoir City Rotary Club "Outstanding 'Citizen Award" for 2010.  Ron was inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame as a Contributor in 2012.
